I don’t support Gay marriage, but it should not be regulated by the central government, that’s not liberty, thats fascism.
Married couple as a civil body has legal and tax implications that church cannot force the government to comply. Therefore, a church can hold wedding ceremonies, but the marriage status simply has no effect as seen by the government.
obviously a church should have that choice. A state, however should not be able to ban any marriage between 2 adult, consenting, humans (had to be specific on that one :).
The subjective nature of the church (any church) should allow it to make its own decision as to whom it marries even if it is not considered a legal union by the state. Religion and/or god are after all a subjective term. The government on the other hand should be a full representation of the whole unit and thus protect “every” individual’s legal right as to their union. To be legally married one needs a marriage license from the state first.
Love is love, it can’t have a cap put on it.
